FINDING YOURSELF AND YOUR PURPOSE
Something I have learned over the past few years is we are extremely complex humans. We all undergo our own unique experiences, we feel deeply intense and complicated emotions and feelings, and we each have different, individual circumstances surrounding us. Since everything in life is so specific to our individual journeys, many times over the years, I have personally felt like the human experience can be an isolating, lonely journey. It’s so easy for us to jump to the conclusion of when we are going through something intense, we are the only people going through it or who have ever felt as low as we feel in that particular moment. However, I have recently learned and leaned on heavily in my darkest, saddest moments because I am not the only person ever to feel this way. Although at times it can feel like an alienating experience, I have learned that the human experience is a unifying and shared experience between all of us. Someone, somewhere, has experienced and felt exactly how you are feeling, and they survived. We all have the strength within us to pull ourselves out of the darkest nights and back into the bright, bursting sunlight.
The human experience is a shared experience, but I believe the most essential and individualistic part of our journey is the process of finding ourselves. We all crave nothing more than to find our purpose, to dig deep to our core and think “What am I here on earth to do?” and “Why do I exist?” With all of us leading such hectic, chaotic daily lives, it can be difficult or even seem trivial at times to really stop and think about this concept. However, finding our purpose in life is bigger than any job, relationship, or hectic, insane life.
We all find ourselves and our purposes in different ways. Some of us take the dramatic, larger-than-life approach. We change and cut our hair, move to a big city, and allow ourselves to be vulnerable & have open hearts. We allow ourselves to be inspired by the colorful world around us, and we learn from the unique people we encounter. On the other hand, some of us take a more simplistic approach. Some of us meditate, read books, pray or manifest, go out in nature, and allow ourselves to be inspired by the world around us, but on a smaller scale. Any method is fine as long as it feels authentic to you and makes you feel something.
We all need to have an inner dialogue with ourselves and ask the following questions to find our purposes: What do I love? What am I passionate about? If I only had one more day on earth, would I be happy? If not, what do I need to do RIGHT NOW to make the answer to that question? YES! RIGHT NOW is your time! Go out there and find your purpose.
