Tips To Creating Your Soul Aligned Career with Stephanie Heath Workshop Recap

Consistency, Authenticity, and Aura Spray. What do these have in common? They’re 3 tools that Career Coach Stephanie Heath mentioned during last month’s digital workshop: Creating A Soul-Aligned Career. Stephanie is a former Recruiter who found success at startups and Fortune 500 companies like Sony. Checkout our event recap below (and learn a few tips that may help you prepare for your next career move)!

Workshop Recap

Stephanie began the workshop on-time, with a smile, and immediately asked the group to reflect on several career-focused questions. She played vibey music during the reflection time to help people relax.  Within the first few minutes she set a tone that she was knowledgeable, thoughtful and would challenge the group to think deeply.

After the reflection period, she asked people to share their career aspirations and challenges. Providing a perfect balance of directness and empathy, Stephanie gave feedback to anyone who bravely shared their LinkedIn profile and a url to a job that they were interested in. The group included folks from professional backgrounds like Media Production, Writing and Editorial, Law, Finance and Tech. Stephanie flexed her Recruiter muscles to give thoughtful feedback about everything from LinkedIn photos, professional bios and written content. No ego, no judgement. Just tips to help people connect their skills and LinkedIn profile to the job that  they wanted to land.

While we can’t share everything that Stephanie mentioned (learn about her services here), here are a few gems:

Starting or Improving Your LinkedIn Profile:

  • Aim to have at least 150 connections (start with friends from work or school)

  • Create a LinkedIn narrative (bio). It may be hard to talk about yourself initially, but it’s a great way to introduce yourself to a recruiter. Lean into authenticity here by talking about your hobbies or experiences

  • Add completed coursework and skills that are relevant to the job that you want

  • Ask a strong writer to proofread your profile

Applying for Jobs

  • Keep your efforts consistent

  • If you can afford it, invest in a professional resume or cover letter writing service like elfa

  • Take time to recharge so that you’re mentally fresh

Keeping Interview Nerves in Check

  • Remember: if you’re interviewing it’s because they’re interested in you!

  • Treat the interview like a conversation

  • If you’re a nervous interviewer (who isn’t?): try a 3-minute  guided meditation for eradicating ego, a longer meditation for conscious communication,  or try clearing anxious energy from your space with an aura spray

  • Be informed about the appropriate salary range: try using a resource like 81cents  or Glassdoor for  market research
