Summer Trends... Defined by Emma Chamberlain

The long-awaited decision has been made. Style icon and trendsetter Emma Chamberlain has posted telling us what to wear this summer. The almost 20-year-old YouTuber has been setting trends and bringing us laughs since her YouTube channel began in 2017. The consistent wearing of her tan “fluffy jacket” started a breakthrough of the coats, and ever since teens have been looking to her for inspiration on what’s gonna be in style next.

Although we can’t all be in attendance at Louis Vuitton’s Paris Fashion Week or sponsored by PacSun, Emma has uploaded a video showing us all that she will be wearing this summer. The outfits she gave us are affordable, minimalist, and easy to accessorize. I have come up with a summary of the must-have pieces and trendy pairs for you.. defined by Queen Emma Chamberlain.

THE SUMMER OUTFIT- A pair of high-waisted jean shorts and a neutral tank top. With this outfit, as Emma says, “The opportunities are endless.” Any pair of shoes looks great, or you can add fun sunglasses. Emma also suggests adding a button-up or sweater over the tank for even more style.

  1. “LEAST FAVORITE AUNT ON BEACH VACATION”. Flowy light beach pants, simple lace tank, and a light button-up jacket Emma’s shoe of choice is a tan Birkenstock clog. This may be the shoe of the summer. Birk’s are great, but apparently, the clog form is Emma’s new go-to. Emma also emphasizes a good-knit bucket hat.

  2. GOOFY BBQ. Emma pairs blue and white checker patterned shorts and a vintage tee for her next look. The pattern and color of a fun short allow for no accessories. This outfit is easy for any outsider event and is so easy because the pattern makes such a statement.

  3. CALIFORNIA IN THE 90’S. The last three outfits are combined by pairing a beach pant, a vintage tee, and the Birkenstock clogs. The beach stereotype allows for Emma to mix and match all her outfits and still manage to look trendy and effortless.

  4. MAXI SKIRTS. If you need something fancier, Emma pairs any maxi skirt with a plain black tank. This fit goes perfectly for any beach day as the skirt could be worn alone as a cover-up. A light jacket could be added for when the evenings get cooler.

  5. 90’S GRANDPA. This outfit is my kinda vibe. Comfy meets fashion with a crew neck, track shorts, baseball hat, and sneakers. I will probably wear this every day this summer.

  6. SPORTY SPICE. Emma falls into the biker shorts trap as she pairs them with a white tank and a flashy red jacket. A cute pair of white sneakers and sunglasses make for an easy and comfy look for the daytime.

  7. GOLF DAD PREPPY MOMENT. Emma’s favorite shorts come out again this summer. The tan paper bag short is paired with a green knit vest and her loafers. This outfit works with any vest top and gives such a cute and preppy vibe. Emma says preppy will be one of her favs styles this summer.

  8. WHITE DICKIES. White dickies or any white pants paired with a retro patterned top will never go out of style. As Emma says, “it’s simple, it’s easy, it’s effective, it’s a little bit unique, but it’s still comfy.”

  9. ON THE GO. A quick Trader Joe’s run would be perfect for this outfit. Fabric shorts and a mock neck paired with some slides and a hat allows you to be comfy while running errands.

  10. ZEBRA PRINT. The zebra print and pop of color are everything. Emma pairs a zebra tank with a tennis skirt and green sunglasses. Although she says animal prints aren’t her favorite, sometimes they can be cute.

  11. VERY VEGAN. White flowery top, light wash jeans and clogs given me all the crunchy vegan vibes. Dainty white tops are perfect for a brunch or day out.

  12. PREPPY. This last outfit reiterates Emma’s emphasis on how preppy is going to be. The white-colored tank and plaid shorts remind me of a school uniform and it’s so cute.

In conclusion, loafers, preppy patterns, and simple tanks are all the rage of the summer. Follow Emma Chamberlain’s advice and this summer is gonna be amazing.
