Wait, I'm back in love with Hot Yoga

“New Year New Decade.”

“Our Roaring 20s.”

“New Year, New Me.”

These phrases have been on all over social media for the past few days. We all made our resolutions or what the youth calls it our new “intentions”. I decided to make the intention of taking care of my wellness. I was an avid yogi a few years ago, but due to a knee injury, I had to take a break. I would always tell myself I will start up again and never did.

Well, over the past few months, I dived back into it and became a focus on taking care of my mental and physical health. I started jumping back into it around November, and the first sessions sucked. I mean sucked, but I still had good form and did better than I expected. I usually don’t jump into working out with that whole mantra New Year New workout. You know the feeling when you go to the gym and it is overcrowded with everyone on the same page. This year was different.

On January 1st, 2020, I decided to take a Hot Yoga class to start the new decade with a cleanse. I wanted to start this decade dedicated to me. Me first. I want to give back to myself. Over the past few months, my schedule has been hectic with no days off, mental and physical challenges. Those 90 minutes once a week is MY time- no phone, no work, no stress, just my time to focus on my inner self. We always forget about ourselves, but this year I am taking control of my soul.

I love hot yoga because it provides me with the center of peace for 90 minutes, and I can get rid of all the toxins. I love the idea of feeling like a total brink of death from sweating but feeling like a new me when we say our final Namaste. My goal is to start doing hot yoga at least 4x a week and get back into shape for my mental health and you know look like a snack for the summer.

Hot Yoga Benefits

  1. Aide in Weight Loss: Each session burns significant calories.

  2. Glowing Skin: It detoxifies and improves blood flow.

  3. Improves Flexibility: The warm room allows your muscles to stretch.

  4. Stress: Hot yoga focuses on breathing, clearing your mind, and flowing. Breathing deep is the key to relieving stress.
