Bachelorette Recap: Past relationships and the next Bachelor
Week 3 already?! I must say Katie’s men are pretty outstanding. MOST of them are incredibly caring and empathetic towards her. She’s got a ton of guys who I could see her marrying.
The episode picks up at the rose ceremony from the last episode, with Karl sabotaging the entire house.
Katie cuts the cocktail party short, and the rose ceremony begins despite the fact that some of the men did not get any time to speak to her.
Greg comes to the rescue and consoles Katie, as he should. So sweet.
After a couple of roses are handed out, Mike P. takes his moment to accept his rose and explain to Katie that as a unit, the men believe that Karl has lied.
The men who did not receive roses are John, Kyle, and Karl (thank god).
Katie doesn’t even give Karl a hug on his way out.
A group date card comes, and Katie doesn’t even sign her name or a heart at the end of it.
The men on the date are Aaron, Quartney, James, Connor B., David, Justin, Thomas, Hunter, and Brendan.
Past Bachelor, Nick Viall joins the group date.
The men sit in a circle in a dark room. Very intense and intimidating.
He asks the men to share 100% of their past relationships and their mistakes such as cheating, ghosting and leading women on. Freaking intimidating. Sharing secrets not only with people you met three weeks ago, but broadcasted on national television.
Hunter shares a story about his ex wife and two kids. He explains that he “failed at marriage”.
The men began to open up, maybe a bit too much..
Thomas admits that he showed up having no clue who Katie was, and that he knew he would build a platform from joining the show. He also says that he will admit all his red flags, and that he went on a date the week before filming… WTF?
Connor B. opens up about the time he cheated on his girlfriend and allowed alcohol to take over his relationships.
Katie shares a very intimate story about a situation 10 years ago where there was no consent between her and a partner. She admits her denial of the assault in the past and how this created an unhealthy relationship between her and sex.
After the date, Michael A. opens up to a couple of the men about his late wife. He explains that seven months after they had their first child, his wife, Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two years ago, his wife passed away.
During the party after the date, Katie questions Thomas about the list of red flags he promised to tell her. He stutters, and never fully answers.
The boys begin to question Thomas’s integrity, and so does Katie.
Thomas goes back for a second time to speak with Katie. He shares with her that his feelings are intense and passionate, basically saying he is falling in love with her. I don’t believe him.
A one-on-one date card comes for Michael A.
They go on a super cool ATV date. I am not sure how much I would’ve trusted Katie behind the wheel, but Michael did.
The date goes very well and the two open up and I see a great connection. Katie mentioned earlier that she was doubtful about having kids, so marrying a man who already has a son seems a bit out of her comfort zone.
Michael shares the story of his family with Katie. He gets very emotional but the moment is so vulnerable and pure.
He says “What a gift to be able to fall in love twice”. Which is literally so beautiful and touching. Definitely shed some tears.
The next morning, the boys confront Thomas about his sketchy behavior. He admits to considering being the next Bachelor.
This is awkward because Karl was right about there being more men here for the wrong reasons.
