When *not* to Splurge - Favorite Style Dupes
If you’re anything like me, you probably freak out a little when spending large amounts of money, especially on clothes. But you still want to look good and keep up with trends. Not to brag, but I’ve done a pretty good job of finding dupes for more expensive clothing items, and affordable pieces. While there are certainly higher-end pieces worth investing in, you don’t need to break the bank to put together a great wardrobe.
I’ve grabbed a few of my most worn dupes and affordable clothing to put you all on to some my favorite places to shop. (Excuse my pictures, still working on the whole “content creation” thing.)
Smiley Face T-Shirt; Nastygal; $9
This smiley face trend was huge over the summer when I originally purchased this tee, but I’ve gotten way more use out of it than I originally expected. I remember seeing something similar at Zara for over $20, so when I spotted this from Nastygal for under $10, I jumped on it. It’s surprisingly good quality too. I’ve styled it under a blazer with jeans to the office, and with biker shorts running errands in the summer.

Black Faux Leather Blazer; Glassons; $79
Two things that never really go out of style: (faux) leather and blazers. This piece is the most expensive on the list, but still a really great deal considering how many times I’ve worn it. It’s from Australian brand Glassons, I bought it over a year ago when the leather blazer trend was taking off. I wore it often then, and I still wear it often. It’s perfect for me to wear into the office or casually, but I can also dress it up to wear to a nice dinner or night out.
Tan Oversized Blazer; H&M; $45
This blazer is one of the best things I own. Throwing it on with a white tank or tee and some light wash jeans instantly elevates the outfit. A tan blazer is definitely a timeless staple piece for you wardrobe, so I definitely could have justified spending more money on something like this. But I found it at H&M for $45 so I didn’t even have to. I sized up in this for an even more oversized look, which probably wasn’t necessary, but I do really like the way it fits.
Straight Leg Jeans; Garage; $60
I can’t even begin to explain how long it took me to find a pair of jeans that made me look and feel good, but also weren’t too expensive as my weight was fluctuating. After many, MANY, returned packages, I found a few pair from Garage that finally worked. They aren’t the cheapest, but $60 is still a pretty decent price for a good pair of jeans. I love this pair because they really suck you in and don’t stretch out too much while you’re wearing them. I also love that there’s a rip in only one knee.
Satin Midi Skirt; H&M; $25
I have about 5 different variations of this skirt. It is the best spring/summer piece for any occasion. I’ve styled it with a white tee and a cardigan for the office, and with a tank for drinks with friends. I saw almost the exact same skirt in the window of Aritzia….I don’t even want to imagine how much it was. But I didn’t have to ‘cause I already had this $25 one from H&M. (Are we sensing a theme here? Don’t sleep on H&M).
Cream Scarf; Primark; $6
I bought this scarf only a couple of weeks ago and I STILL cannot believe my luck. I have this style scarf in gray which I love, but I couldn’t find the same one in cream anywhere. Or at least anywhere for a price I’d be willing to pay for a scarf. Then I was almost on my way out of Primark, decided to check the accessories section, and there she was. Tell me that’s not an exact dupe for an Acne or Cos scarf! I’ve worn this scarf almost every day since I’ve owned it. It totally elevates my winter outfits, and it was $6.
