NYC Edition: A+ by Anthropologie Launch Party Recap

Fashion has come a very long way to become inclusive, and we are right in the midst of experiencing drastic changes in the industry for the very first time. This past year, we have seen the first Muslim hijab-wearing model walk for Fendi, Opening Ceremony’s Fall 2019 lookbook celebrating Asian identities, and Pierre Davis, the first openly transgender designer, showcase her collection for fashion week. It's a proud moment to witness these brands taking steps to send a clear message - that fashion is for everyone.

On March 14, I attended a plus size line launch party for one of my favorite brands, Anthropologie. I love stepping inside their stores,  gazing at all the floral patterns, free-spirited styles, and leaving with bags of clothing that make me feel adventurous and feminine. Now, the horizon has expanded so that all women can purchase their clothing without questioning if their size is offered. Their new line, called A+ by Anthropologie is made up of fun prints, flirty silhouettes,  and statement pieces that scream I am a proud and confident woman.

The launch party was located at the Rockefeller Center and the first floor was filled with fashionistas left and right. As I walked around, they had a flower bouquet section, servers w/ hors d'oeuvres, amazing staff that wore dresses from the new line, and a mix of people that came to celebrate the launch. It was refreshing to see how the event brought so many women together and allowed empowerment through clothes.

This city is such an incredible place because fashion is highly valued and celebrated. New Yorkers are definitely not afraid to express themselves and showcase who they with daring outfits. As the evening progressed, I approached a woman who's outfit caught my eye. Her name is Raiza, a Brooklyn based Art Director in the food industry. She had every pop of color that combined so well from her green jumpsuit,  red pom-pom hoop earrings, to the stunning eye makeup that I've never seen before. Everything about her look was artistic, vibrant, and brave that she truly sets an example of what fashion stands for.

I am thrilled to see more brands creating new lines and collections that call for inclusivity. Everyone needs to be given an equal chance to experience what fashion has to offer. The A+ launch party brought our community together to celebrate beautiful options that are available for plus size women. I had an amazing time with old and new friends  - thank you Anthropologie for this exciting line.
