Your Face Is So Fresh! Products For Oily Skin.

They say people with oily skin look younger longer. If that is true I'm all for my oily skin just not the part where it clogs my pores.

Those of us with oily skin know all too well that you tend to break out the most along your t zone. For me in particular I broke out a lot on the sides of my nose and a little on my forehead. And like most of us you get self conscience when you have a few red bumps on your face.

Thank god for makeup although I do catch myself checking my face in the mirror a lot more when I have a pimple then when I don't. I think this is why the best makeup artist say the key to flawless makeup is great skin.

So because I have an issue that many ladies have I wanted to share with you the products I use that help to keep my skin look fresh .

First of all salicylic acid is my best friend. Not a lot of people take the time to look at what their face wash contains and they really should. I remember I use to use the acne treatment Proactiv, which for a short time worked for my skin. It stopped working when they switched up their formula from a salicylic acid to a benzoyl peroxide base. Benzoyl peroxide works great for dry skin or sensitive skin, it did absolutely nothing for my oily skin and actually made me break out more. So I was forced to try and find a replacement that would work as well. This lead me to try Neutrogena's Oil Free Acne Stress Control products, more specifically their Stress Control Scrub and the Stress Control Toner.  Ever since then I've never used another product. They work great to fight break outs before they happen and even if one little red bump seems to make it through it's never there long.

Moisturizers are SO important if you have oily skin! I use to have this fear that moisturizers would actually clog my pores. But what I've come to learn is that moisturizers actually help to prevent breakouts. Think about it, if you don't moisturize your face after you wash it your skin is dry. Then your face is forced to create more oil for your skin to soak up which leads to clogged pores and break outs. Although some moisturizers are incredibly heavy and can cause an oily face to break out, I always recommend staying away from those. The moisturizer I use is the Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle day lotion and the night cream from Olay. I love this moisturizer because it's heavy enough to get the job done but it won't clog my pores. Plus my mother always taught me to treat anti-aging products as preventative measures. In her words, "what is the use if you already have wrinkles? Why not try to prevent them for as long as possible?" She makes a great point so if there's a choice I'll always go toward the anti-aging product.

I read somewhere that the reason why skin tends to look dull or pores get clogged easier is because of the dead skin that remains on the surface. After noticing that my skin didn't seem to have that fresh glow anymore I experimented with face masks and scrubs. And I ended up finding two that I love. One is Neutrogena's Microdermabrasion which I use once a week and the other is St. Ives Oatmeal Scrub & Mask that I also use once a week. Microdermabrasion is great for getting all the dead skin off your face, cleaning out your pores, and even helps to prevent signs of wrinkles. I'm sure you've heard of celebrities spending hundreds of dollars on microdermabasion treatments well Neutrogena offers one but for a lot less money. I use St. Ives Oatmeal Scrub &  Mask as just a mask. I like it because it's natural, gentle, and makes my skin silky smooth.

In my mind you only have one skin and one face so you need to take care of it! These are the products I use all the time and swear by. My oily skin is a pain to deal with and I know there are plenty of women out there with the same problem I have. So if you're looking for some great products that will keep your oil and break outs under control while keeping your face looking fresh I would give these a try.
