A model, actress, motivational speaker, radio personality and now crowned Beauty Queen, Teela B is well on her way to creating an empire she's always wanted. Blessed with many talents this powerhouse of a woman is taking her dreams and turning them into a legacy that will be left for future generations.
As a child in Baltimore, Teela B was a true fashionista, leading her to having a career in retail and then to styling thousands of people. Always feeling like she was meant for greater, Teela B picked up the book Instincs by T. B. Jakes and discovered her calling, a career in modeling, acting, and to ultimately become an entrepreneur. Since then Teela B has been modeling in magazines, acting in films, plays, commercials, and web series all while working towards creating her vision.
We had the chance to speak to Teela B about what makes and what it takes to create an empire.
LETS TALK ABOUT THIS EMPIRE YOU'RE BUILDING!
First I would like to thank you for the opportunity to talk about myself, my brand and share my thoughts on your awesome platform.
My, I Am Teela B, brand encompasses all of my talents with a foundation of inspiration. Growing up in the rough streets of Baltimore City within an impoverished, troubled family, I've had more than my fair share of woes and adversity. I display the story of my life from coming from the gutter to knocking down mountains and achieving goals and dreams I thought were once impossible. This exemplifies to young girls and women of all ages and walks of life that no matter what challenges life brings, you can always be a Survivor, not a Victim.
BUT BUILDING SOMETHING OF THIS MAGNITUDE HAS TO BE OVERWHELMING.
The hardest part of building an empire is to whole heatedly know that you can achieve and deserve to have whatever you envision your empire to be. The thought of building an empire may be overwhelming to many. I believe that your vision for your life is essentially your empire. Whatever that looks like to you. It doesn't have to be star studded, expensive trips, lush mansions with caviar every night.
Once you have your vision for your life, and you have Faith that it will happen, I believe that everything else will fall into place. And when you look up, you will be building your empire.
SO WHAT ARE SOME TIPS TO BUILDING OUR OWN EMPIRE?
Take time to get to know yourself, your strengths, your weaknesses. If you could do something every day for the rest of your life, and enjoy doing it and possibly get paid to do it, what would that thing be? This is the start to your vision.
Have faith that your vision will come to fruition
Set realistic goals and aspirations that will help you make your vision a reality
Work on your craft every day. That could be reading materials on your craft, working on one of your goals, researching for your next move. It doesn't have to be a grand venture. Sometimes the smallest tasks move along the biggest projects.
Surround yourself with like minded individuals who have the same interests as you.
WE ARE IN THE MIST OF A FEMALE REVOLUTION. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT AND WHAT SHOULD BE DOING TO KEEP IT ALIVE?
I am so excited that we are in a female revolution! I bought a shirt from a retailer that says, "Future is for Girls". When I saw it, I just had to have it. Because of the history in our country of women being second class citizens, I believe that the coming together of women is very important. As an up and coming female entertainer, I have to make sure that I am an example to other women that we are just as important to the world as our male counterparts.
A piece of advice I would give to women to inspire them to keep the movement alive it to think about those who have come before us. We must pay homage to those women who have gone through the fire and the flood to make it possible for us, in this generation to be able to express ourselves openly and honestly. We must also take a moment to understand that the choices we make will affect other women to come. We must be proud of where we are as women in this generation and exalt the female leaders who will soon look upon us as the generation that paved the way for them. I believe that this is the ultimate circle of sisterhood.
WHAT'S IN THE FUTURE FOR TEELA B?
Actually one of my goals that was once a future goal is now a check on my goal sheet. I will be crowned as the 2018-2019 Newsome Awards World Beauty Queen. It was a dream that I've had since a child and I am so honored and blessed to be given such a title. Some other future goals is to make my I Am Teela B Inc brand a household name, start a boys and girls mentoring program in Baltimore, be booked on a National syndicated television show, and be booked for a Blockbuster film.
DESCRIBE YOUR SLAY.
I Slay Daily by waking every God-given morning by saying a prayer for myself, my loved ones and those I will encounter in the day. That I am aware of those who may need a positive lift with a smile or a word. By walking with confidence knowing that I am Great but still a work in progress. And at the end of the day telling myself, "job well done Teela B. God willing, tomorrow we will have another opportunity to help change the world."
