Bachelorette Recap: Prepping for Hometowns
Time is dwindling down in New Mexico and Katie’s journey is coming to an end…
7 men are left and the tough decision has to be made: who’s family is going to meet Katie??
Two men have not received one on one dates yet: Mike P and Brendan
When the date card arrives, Greg gets ANOTHER one on one. This seems incredibly unfair, especially at this point of the journey when the time before hometowns is so crucial.
The two of them go on a Seattle-themed date, which is Katie’s hometown. Shows a lot of bias with a preplanned hometown date specially made for Greg, but it is ok because I love him.
They throw fish like in the Seattle markets, eat raw oysters, pick out bouquets and play a friendly game of football. Greg tells Katie he is falling in love with her and they kiss in the rain. She gives him a rose which means she will be meeting his family.
Back at home, the men patiently wait for the next date card. This will be telling of who is chosen for the final one-on-one. Since Greg got the first one, either Mike or Brendan will not be given a date at all this week, or ever before hometowns.
The card comes in, and Brendan is on the date, meaning he will not receive a one on one.
He decides to take matters into his own hands and speak to Katie. This backfires massively.
Katie explains to him that she does not see a future for the two and their relationship is not progressing as fast as the others. She sends him home.
The group date is a sexual innuendo art exhibit. The art pieces look like flowers, but could be interpreted as female anatomy as well. The artist is the amazing Jacqueline Secor.
The boys are challenged to create their own art pieces. It is hilarious.
At the cocktail party, conversations are getting serious as Katie discusses falling in love and future plans with the men.
Andrew even mentions he is willing to quit football and move on to a future with Katie. Damn.
Katie gives the group date rose to Michael A. after they discussed her taking on the role as a mother for his son, James.
Mike P. and Katie go on their first one-on-one. Mike P is known as the “virgin” of the group. Katie plans a cuddling therapy type date, in the woods. This is just not comfortable for anyone. They try different cuddle positions, and the two cannot stop laughing out of discomfort and awkwardness.
They cuddle on their own time and Mike expresses his feelings and his reasons behind saving himself. The conversation feels so forced.
Back home, the men discuss the small chance that Mike will get a rose. They are right.
Katie greets Mike in tears and struggles to tell him that their relationship is not as strong as others and that her heart is not with him.
Mike is crushed as he walks away and his bags are packed to go home.
The rose ceremony tonight is huge, Greg and Michael A. have guaranteed roses which means they will be going to their hometown dates. It is now left between Blake, Justin, and Andrew.
Ultimately, Katie ends up sending Andrew home. I am so sad.
Katie and Andrew walk out together equally crying as she expresses her admiration for him and her appreciation for his respect to her. This is heartbreaking and I think she made the wrong choice.
BUT WAIT.
The next morning Andrew knocks on Katie’s door. He didn’t want to leave on the heartbroken terms of the night before. He hands her a note that says “If you change your mind, I’ll be waiting”.
Katie gets up and sprints down the hallways in an attempt to catch him before he leaves. They meet up in the hotel lobby as the two sobs and hug. She offers him a chance to stay longer, and although that is exactly what he wants, he is hurt and doesn’t want to continue longer at a place he was already sent home.
