Bachelorette Recap: Who's here for the right reasons?
Week 2 is here!! Dates begin, and the men who are there for fame are weeded out. I feel like it’s obligatory for Week 2 to be dedicated to the Bachelorette finding out that some of her suitors are only here to gain Instagram followers. This happens every season.
The episode starts out with a group date. A date card shows up at the door and the names included are Christian, Garrett, Tre, Quartney, Mike P., James, Justin, Thomas, Connor B., and Karl.
Thomas gets the first and routine run-up super fast and picks up the Bachelorette hug.
The men and Katie arrive at their date and are shocked to be standing in a room with a bed, sex toys, and no lights on. They are greeted by the host of the Juicy Scoop podcast, Heather McDonald. Heather quizzes the boys on sex facts, none of them knew any of the answers, and neither did I.
The men are constructed to create a presentation about “What makes them the greatest lover?”
Mike P. reveals that he has saved himself for marriage and his emotions run high during such a sexual-powered date. He worries that Katie won’t be able to see his true love if he can’t express it sexually during this date.
The boys perform songs, puppet acts, and foot massages.
Mike P. sits Katie down on the bed and reads from his journal to her. He explains the importance of waiting and what he dreams about for his future wife. The message is so sweet and vulnerable. He wins the trophy for the Greatest Lover.
After the date, Connor B and Katie sit down and they “re-do” their first kiss. It honestly didn’t look any better than the first one. She pulls away pretty fast.
Thomas shares a very passionate kiss with Katie. Their tension is insane. He gets the group date rose.
The one-on-one date card comes and Greg gets it, of course.
Katie picks Greg up in a red pickup truck and she takes him to a secluded outdoor area. The two go fishing and attempt to pitch a tent. Greg obviously has zero experience with camping. Katie explains that she and her dad use to camp all the time, and this whole date reminds her of her father, who passed away in 2012.
Katie teaches Greg how to create a toilet out of a bucket. They share a kiss, on the bucket. Romantic.
They play horseshoe and go fishing. I didn’t see any fish actually being caught.
They get dinner after, and Greg reveals that his dad also passed away recently. I was confused why he didn’t mention that earlier on. The two are in the same situation, and he waited till the end of the night to reveal that, but it was very sweet if he was giving Katie her time to grieve so that the focus was on her and her special moment.
Hosts, Kaitlyn and Tayshia, dressed up in sparkly cowgirl outfits, wake up the peacefully sleeping men to start the group date day off.
The men stumble outside, most of them only in underwear, to greet Katie for a group date outside.
In the quest of the “Katie’s Golden Cowboy” buckle award, the boys must wrestle each other in the mud.
The boys get suited up in jeans and cowboy boots and prepare to fight. They look very hot as cowboys. I love cowboys.
The men light-heartedly wrestle each other, until Aaron and Codey are paired together.
The two men, who know each other from the past, can’t even bear to look at each other. Aaron is awarded the buckle.
After the date, Katie pulls Aaron aside to enquire about the situation. Aaron uses the word “malicious” to describe Codey. He presumes that Codey is here for the wrong reasons.
Katie confronts Codey, and his response was not very reassuring. He stuttered with his response, and rather than denying anything, just said he was unsure or that maybe Aaron was exaggerating.
Katie explains to Codey that she feels zero trust between them two, and sends him home!
Katie and Andrew S. connected through their financial struggles growing up. This was a very sweet moment and strengthen their bond.
Karl then decides to screw up everything by telling Katie that there are still men that are there for the wrong reasons. He has zero evidence to back it up and won’t reveal any names to Katie. This causes her more stress and anxiety.
The rest of the men in the house are furious at Karl for starting rumors and ruining the night.
The episode leaves off right before the rose ceremony. Katie has been tweeting that the next episode’s rose ceremony is something that has never occurred before. I can’t wait.
