How to Treat Your Mom This Mother's Day (Because She Deserves It)

Written by: Cora Gold

Moms work hard to help us achieve our best in life. As an adult, you should take the time to show your mom how much you appreciate her. Here are some fun ways to treat your mom this Mother’s Day, because she deserves it.

1. Extra Time

Many moms crave spending time with their kids, especially when they get older, so schedule a day full of fun. If she’s a homebody, you can binge-watch her favorite show on the couch and eat popcorn. You can also go for a walk in the park to share what’s been happening with your life lately.

2. Flowers

Flowers go beyond being an expression of romantic interest. Many use a bouquet of blossoms to convey how happy and thankful they are to have someone in their life. Deliver flowers to your mother with a box of candy. Bonus points if you remember her favorite flower and chocolate brand.

3. Spa Day

Some moms overexert themselves to work and take care of the family. Some also undergo terrible parental anxiety from worrying about their kids. The tension can manifest in aches in their muscles and stomachs. Bring her to a spa to clear her worries. A deep tissue massage can provide the relaxation she needs.

4. Brunch

Did your mom cook your favorite dinner all the time? It’s your time to take over the kitchen. Create a delicious brunch that will make her proud. You can even create a small menu listing your mother’s favorite dishes and desserts. It’s an excellent physical keepsake alongside photos of your finished product.

5. Surprise Dinner

Call in family members to have a surprise dinner to celebrate your mother. There’s an unmatched joy to seeing your whole household complete. If everyone’s of legal age, make sure someone brings your mom’s favorite wine.

6. A Bucket List Activity

If your mom has had an activity on her bucket list forever, Mother’s Day is a good time to fulfill it. Do the research and make plans for a hassle-free adventure. Your mother will relish not having to do the work and focus on the enjoyment.

7. Jewelry

A beautiful jewelry piece can convey how much you value your mom and her presence. You can go with classic diamond pieces or look for her birthstone for a more personal touch. To really celebrate her motherhood, you could give her a bracelet or ring that features her children’s or grandchildren’s birthstones.

8. New Clothes

Fashion is an invaluable way to express yourself. Take your mom on a shopping spree and buy her some new clothes. You can even encourage her to go outside her comfort zone regarding colors and styles.

9. A Clean Home

How many times did your mom clean up after you growing up? Now’s the time to repay her. It can be exciting for parents to wake up to a spotless house, a clean sink and an empty laundry bag. If you want to be more thorough, call other siblings for backup or find a cleaning service willing to do the dirty work.

10. Education Allowance

Remember how your mom would hand you a little bit of lunch money? Some mothers return to school to complete their education or find a new career path. However, certain expenses, like books and programs, can be slightly pricey. Chip in and help her out. Remind her of all the times she gave you an allowance and how it’s time for payback.

11. Hobby Supplies

Take note of your mother’s current hobby and get her supplies for those endeavors. New hooks and yarn are ideal if your mom recently picked up crocheting. Gardeners would appreciate a few mystery seeds to plant and care for.

12. New Pillows and Bedding

Moms can get sleep-deprived quickly. Evidence also suggests women need more sleep, requiring at least 11 additional minutes per night. Give your mom the best sleep by replacing her pillows and bedding. A higher-quality comforter and blanket can help her get a good night’s rest.

13. A Photo Shoot

Do you have some mother-and-child photos from years ago? Recreate them in a fun, creative photo shoot. Your mother will beam with pride at how much you’ve grown. Plus, she’ll realize how you two have grown closer than ever.

14. A Road Trip

A good road trip with no particular destination can be such a fulfilling experience, especially with someone you love. Make your mother the passenger princess as you drive her around town. Remember to go to drive-thrus when your mom is craving an iced coffee or burger.

15. A Card

Sometimes, mothers need words of affirmation to know how much you love them. Get a lovely Mother’s Day card and write a heartfelt letter about how you appreciate her for everything she’s done for you. Bring a handkerchief for when she tears up.

Show Appreciation to Your Mom

Moms know what a tough challenge being a parent can be. However, it’s all worth it to raise you and see you shine. Take this Mother’s Day to thank them for all their efforts. Find a thoughtful treat to make them feel loved and truly appreciated.
